My first visit to the Minnesota North Shore – an incredible location with fantastic hiking, forests, waterfalls and lakeshore scenes.
State Parks line the entire North Shore, from Duluth to Grand Portage and the Canadian border. Each State Park is full of beautiful short (and some longer) trails following rivers to waterfalls and/or the shore of Lake Superior. And all the towns along the route – Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Schroeder, Tofte, Lutsen, and Grand Marais – are quaint and friendly, if a bit touristy. Even though I only had a few days, I really enjoyed getting to know the area, and plan to return for longer stays in the future.
